Silenced: Gender Gap in 2012 Election Coverage

Gender Gap in 2012 Election Coverage

We teamed with The 4th Estate project to create a graphic that highlighted how the media turns to men to discuss women's issues. Using proprietary software we found that the mainstream press quotes more men than women on abortion, birth control, Planned Parenthood and women's rights.

The Women in Media graphic was nominated for the prestigious 2012 Information is Beautiful Awards in the Information Design category.

This graphic was featured on The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, The Daily Beast, U.S. News, The Chicago Tribune, The Atlantic, Jezebel and dozens more. It also resonated on thousands of individual posts on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest.
